I'm gonna approach an animal that doesn't know me and try to touch it without asking for permission first from the owner and then get mad when said animal gets defensive and attacks me. Boohoo!

Why do people feel entitled to other people's pets? I didn't realize how much of an issue this is until I recently got a dog and people just come up and pet her without asking. Like, sure, I know she's a sweetheart, but what if a dog has issues with strangers, or an aggressive streak, or just plain doesn't want to be approached? You should never just assume that it's alright to touch someone else's dog (this goes double for service dogs). TL;DR: YDI.

This is what we call "learning from experience." You didn't ask first to pet the dog, I bet. So you bent down and the dog jumped up on you. Now you know, ask the owner first. Next time don't be dumb.

Never pet a dog without talking to the owner and finding out if it's a friendly dog. I'm sorry your face is mauled, but it's really your own fault.
