Dream Baby Dream

By Sleepless - 03/02/2014 13:29 - Australia

Today, after years of insomnia and going to doctors to help get a regular sleeping pattern, I finally fell asleep without the help of medication, only to dream about being chased by an angry seal and singing to Rihanna with a horse. This is probably why I don't sleep. FML

Were you by any chance watching videos of cute baby seals and listening to Rhi today? Because one theory about sleep is that it's about information processing; that is, our dreams are a result of us consolidating memories from our day. For example, that's probably why my girlfriend has so many dreams that play out like video games, since she plays video games every day. Don't worry too much about your weird dreams, OP!

It's amazing at how little people pay attention when reading FML's

It may be from the medication, my sister was on sleep aids for a while And they gave her weird dreams, like bears piloting jet fighters that were attacking her weird.

bahahaha! this is the best! maybe get a sleep study done. it's fairly simple and non invasive. or... write these drama down and make an epic adventure story!

fyl. I have the same problem, still can't sleep without medication. I hope you'll find a way to sleep better!

I too had trouble sleeping for many years. Over the counter remedies did not work. Self medication did not work. Prescriptions did not help. Self help books did not work. Soothing music and sound did not work. I did the physical things: comfortable bed, good pillow, right amount of covers. Cut out caffeine, don't eat just before bed, etc. I would lie awake with my thoughts racing like hamsters in a wheel. Spinning, until it got so late that I became anxious about not getting enough sleep. Finally, I learned to meditate those thoughts away. I learned not to worry about things before their time, To not worry about things I could do nothing about, and especially things I could do nothing about in the middle of the night. It took time to develop the habit of calming my mind, and noticing when It wasn't calm. I still occasionally have trouble sleeping, but most of the time, I can put my worries and anxieties away and day dream about pleasant and calm things until I fall asleep.

I've had insomnia for about 5 years. On and off again. I know what it's like to have your mind racing. I'd stay awake thinking and worrying about the dumbest things. I take 5 mg. of melatonin every night. It really helps and I know longer have sleepless nights. Melatonin is also a natural supplement that your body makes, which makes taking it even better.

Hahaha... I wish I had that dream , it seem funny.

That's a pretty sweet dream, if I say so myself

That dang old Id kicking in just when you get some rest... Hope your Id gives you some wonderful dreams to make up for this one.
