Ok so you start off saying you're replacing a windshield then say you were about to install it. Were you driving or parked on the side of the road? I assume you mean you met a costumer roadside to replace theirs? Which means you have a witness to what he told you, in case he lies in the insurance report. Unless you're self-employed or work for a small company, the glass should be insured though I'm not sure if he'll be the one who has to pay for it or not.
