Today, I went to a family counseling session because my parents are getting a divorce. I told the counselor that I feel guilty because I feel like I caused it. She says that there is no way I could have caused it, that it's my parents' problem when my mom interrupts her to say, "Yes she did." FML

kids are never the cause of a divorce. the parents just suck

I've heard of this happening sometimes when the wife becomes jealous of the attention that the father pays to the daughter.

Don't blame her for agreeing with you.

Don't give a **** what that bitch thinks OP. Ur better than that. To be honest I'm not surprised. People who aren't happy with life always find someone else to blame. Head's up.

ok kids can and do cause divorces! Especially if it involves step families.

No, parents may blame the children for it, but the parent's marriage is not the children's responsibility; children may impact the marriage, but it's not the children's decisions or actions that should be blamed for the parent's own behaviour and reaction to the children.

wow your mom is a bitch, at court make sure your dad gets custody

Wow. I never expected the amount of OP-bashing I saw in this thread of comments. Divorces are not kids' faults, because it simply doesn't make sense! The parents still have to deal with the kid whether they're married or not. I think this is a case of the mother blaming the kid because she doesn't want it to be her fault. I'm sorry, OP. Divorces are hard on everyone- one of my best friend's parents got divorced and he was clinically depressed for a while. Just remember, it will get better.

Ur right. Finally, someone's talking sense

Agreed. As a matter of fact I myself was caught up in my parents' divorce. Just remember, there is still yet hope. Trust me, it will get better. Remember there will always be someone in this world who loves and cherishes you. Never forget that.
