Today, I told my mom about how my friend is going to China for a year instead of college. My mom suggested that I could do the same. When I told her that a trip to China is probably more expensive than my college tuition, my mom replied, "Not for a one way ticket". FML

A round trip ticket is cheaper that a one way ticket.(your mom is a faillll) Not to mention living expenses in China is fairly low so pretty much all you need is about 20$ a day for 365 days which goes down to about 7,300$ for living expenses and the plane ticket about 1,300$ at the cheapest. Average college fees are about 20,000$ so going to china is litterally half the price. Don't worry your mom just wants you out of the house because you aren't in high school anymore. She wants to party without any responsibility.

sounds like you were expecting her to pay for the trip... can you say spoiled? One thing for rents to pay for college but for you to have a year long trip beforehand and them pay? ydi... the response of hers was good.
