agreed, almost always a pager.
if no one corrects her manners then how can she learn from her mistakes?
that's really being disrespectful, turn the damn phone off
What's rude is the fact that they had a RULE SHE HADN'T KNOWN ABOUT and proceeded to TAKE AWAY her phone as though they are her parents. She would have learned just as well if they POLITELY explained to her of the error. Instead they very IMPOLITELY treated their guest like an idiot and took her property from her. They acted like some snobby little know it all 'I'm so perfect' prats. That is complete crap. Her boyfriend SHOULD have told her in the first place so she wouldn't have to make a fool of herself. Just shows just how impolite he and his parents really are and how impolite the girl was for having her phone at the table. What the parents did was just obnoxious. Both parties are in the wrong and are extremely annoying. Your life sucks AND you deserved it.
That is pretty rude but its also pretty weird for someone you dont even know to take your phone from you. I'd be pissed.
It's only common curtsy not to have a phone at the table.
This is common etiquette. Just like chewing with your mouth open or wearing a hat at the table, texting or talking on the phone at the table is seen as very rude and disrespectful. How did you never learn this? One way around it though is to say, 'excuse me, I must reply to this, it is important.' Leave the table, deal with the text and come back to the table with 'sorry about that.' OR turn off your phone.
You deserved it- it's just not polite to do that!!

It's proper etiquette -.-
Are they one of those crazy families that sit in dead silence while they eat, too?
