Freakout

By n_london - 12/10/2009 20:19 - United States

Today, I was carrying several bags of groceries up the stairs to my third story apartment when I saw a giant rat climbing down the wall towards me. I screamed and dropped my groceries, which went over the rail and landed on the bottom floor, destroying them all. The rat? Just a big leaf. FML

I love how many freakin IDIOTS on here flip out over shit before they know what it even is (like people swerving and crashing because of plastic bags in the road). GET YOUR EYES CHECKED or don't act like such a spineless WIMP. Geez

Why are people such ******* about rats and mice?! Grow a pair, it's a furry mammal.

Wow, everyone here is so damn mean. Seriously, there are people afraid of rats, just because you're not doesn't mean everyone isn't. I highly doubt every person that has posted on here has perfect vision in the dark and would NEVER mistake an object for being something they fear. So what if it's smaller than her, what excuse do people have that are afraid of bugs? OP, fyl and sorry, that's not fun at all. Groceries get expensive too :( I've been in your shoes before and feel for you, although I didn't drop what I was holding...did scream though. Just ignore the jerks on this site, they take stuff much to seriously.

BITCH BITCH BITCH Shut up, whiny. OP just now clarified it was dark. Also, Internet, totally serious business. Why do you think FML exists? TO LAUGH AT OTHERS' PAIN!

"Wow, everyone here is so damn mean. Seriously, there are people afraid of rats, just because you're not doesn't mean everyone isn't. I highly doubt every person that has posted on here has perfect vision in the dark and would NEVER mistake an object for being something they fear. So what if it's smaller than her, what excuse do people have that are afraid of bugs?" Yes, I fear wasps. But I would never drop my groceries from fear of any animal smaller than a badger. And she's not an idiot for thinking a leaf is a rat for a split second. She's not an idiot for being afraid of mice unless the fear is extreme. She's an idiot for dropping her groceries How come everyone saying that everyone saying YDI is mean has done the same thing as the OP.

Whiny? How did I whine? I merely pointed out the hypocrisy. For them to make such a big deal and be rude to her like that would mean they have no fear gene and do not make mistakes. There's a difference between laughing and being completely rude and dropping name bombs.

She obviously has no phobia, if you'll notice. And you're whining. "Stop being so mean! Don't be rude/swear!" is basically what you're saying. That constitutes as whining, or being a giant pansy. Also, learn2reply. Also also, what mike said. We're not hypocrites, we're rational people. Oh, and he was wondering why everyone who whines about people saying YDI accuses those people of being mean and hypocritical. Also also ALSO... Laughing is being completely rude. It can be just as nice and detrimental as calling someone a bitch :)

Hm, so stating an opinion that people should be less rude to someone who has obvious fears is whining? I did not know that. I always thought it was more along the lines of "Waaah! You guys are just so horrible? The poor OP!!! Waaah! How can you do this to such a person when she was just scared?" I was just saying people were being rude, which they were and just because she was scared and did drop her groceries -people have different reactions to fear- does not warrant her to be called names. -_- Sorry about the reply thing, new to the site, tired as hell -going to bed actually- and just didn't notice that blue button. Thanks for pointing it out. It's hypocritical because I highly doubt that every person has never reacted out of fear before and probably embarrassed themselves too. Like Mike saying he's afraid of wasps, well, what if he mistook something for a wasp only realize it was a fly or whatever and yet he jumped back and probably made people laugh around him? When I got tossed off the boat into a river -just for being the lightest person- should I man up despite being deathly afraid of water? Did the OP state she didn't have a rat phobia or that she's just terrified or rats judging by her reaction. Laughing at someone can be rude, laughing with someone isn't.

". Like Mike saying he's afraid of wasps, well, what if he mistook something for a wasp only realize it was a fly or whatever and yet he jumped back and probably made people laugh around him?" I don't do that shit unless I'm more tired than any human should be (3 days u straight :| ). Seriousy, assuming the thing isn't touching me , the most I'll do is inhale somewhat deeply while realising that it isn't a wasp

I was just using it as an example :P Not many other people tossing fears out there aside from the OP. As for dropping my stuff, well no. I'm very light and for some reason, people like to pick me up and hold me. Or guys, back in high school, liked to play catch with me, so no, I am very used to be suddenly picked up. if I dropped my things when I realized I was going over board, they would end up in the water anyways. And yes, being in water would make me drop them if I didn't freeze up and start to sink depending on the water I was tossed in. I get where you're saying with it jumping on her shoulder but still, people react differently to fear. If she was seriously that scared that she dropped her groceries then she must have a deep fear.

Her reply quite implied she isn't completely terrified of water. Yes we've all MISTOOK things for other things before, but dropping stuff? No I don't think I've ever dropped things if I've been startled. Also of course being in the water would make you drop stuff. I would hope that you WOULD, since you kind of need your arms to swim. Your situation is quite different from the OP's.

I guess it all depends on just how close the leaf was to her, she did say she thought it was crawling towards her. If she was not expecting something, at night too, and suddenly she thinks it's something she fears right next to her then yes, she might drop her groceries in attempt to jump away and not fall down a flight of stairs...or three. Yes my situation is different but I'm a very good swimmer and could still swim with things in my hands. Again, everyone reacts differently to fears, while Mike just inhales deeply, she throws what's in her hands.

... Whoops... I wrote "water" instead of "rats" earlier... You're not the only one who's tired lol

when I was playing foot ball I thought a bird was a football because it was really low. i love stupid moments :)

I wouldn't drop anything either if I thought it was something scary but maybe she has an extreme phobia? I'm deathly afraid of water (oceans, pools, lakes, rivers, ect.), if someone tossed me into water -doesn't even have to be deep- I'd drop everything I was holding and get out of there hella fast. Not too sure what the last part you said was...kind of confusing but it could just be me being tired.

If someone tossed you into water? You would not drop your shit while someone was picking you up and tossing you ,but the water will make you drop it? Besides, there's a difference between physically being in water and seeing a rat. IF the rat jumped on the OP's shoulders it'd be understandable.
