Today, I was carrying several bags of groceries up the stairs to my third story apartment when I saw a giant rat climbing down the wall towards me. I screamed and dropped my groceries, which went over the rail and landed on the bottom floor, destroying them all. The rat? Just a big leaf. FML

Today, after my house almost got broken into last week, when I heard some noises in the kitchen I went to investigate. I saw a huge rat run across my floor, and nearly peed myself thinking it was an intruder. FML

Today, I was laying in bed when my sister came running in, scared. I took my bat and went into the kitchen where the suspicious noise was coming from. It was a rat, right in the middle of the floor. I jumped on the counter and shrieked, just as my girlfriend walked in, who then actually dealt with it. FML

Today, I had to move down to the third floor because after complaining about rats on my rooftop the landlord put down traps. The rats died. Flies came. The flies laid eggs. The eggs birthed maggots. The maggots rained down from my broken ceiling into my bed and all over my floor. I'm not okay. FML

Today, I dropped my remote behind the bed and went to reach for it. Instead of the remote, I grabbed hold of a rat carcass that must have got in when builders were working in my bathroom several weeks ago. FML

Today, I found my cat downstairs with a squirrel dangling from his mouth. When I saw this, I yelled at my cat to put it down. He did. Turns out the squirrel was still alive and run. I had to spend the next three hours chasing it out of my house. FML

Today, I woke up and went into the bathroom and noticed a dark mass in the toilet. Thinking someone took a dump and didn't flush, I approached the toilet ready to dispose of it. That's when I noticed its whiskers and ears. It was a rat, and it was alive. FML

That's what you get for being an idiot. Why are you afraid of rats? They are the nicest, cleanest of all the rodents, unlike filthy hamsters that cling to your fingers with their mouths. Stop being afraid of "icky" animals just because society tells you to be. Think for yourself.

All I said was that being afraid of a rat or spider or any other "creepy crawly" thing is what we're all told to fear, whether it's our parents, our schools, or television and movies. It just pisses me off that people don't see anything but a pest. Just because it's not a fluffy puppy with a little head and big ears doesn't mean it's dangerous. I'm just saying to keep your mind open.

Seriously. What the ****. God damn it I hate when people freak out over stupid animals anyway. If it scares you, kindly and calmly just get out of the way. Freaking out will spook/startle the animal and that would make it worse, sometimes.
