Why would anyone say YDI? I could care less if someone hated Pokemon, everyone has their tastes, but be based on the grounds to suddenly leave a date is ridiculous. it's not like OP said, "do you like German food? Heil Hitler!"
I'd say you dodged a bullet, man. Good for you!
I like Pokemon as much as the next person-pushing-30-years-old, but I'm with a previous commenter - if you're old enough to date, you're old enough to remember what a blueberry is. If I were to go out for Chinese, I would expect the person I was with to lower their opinion of me if I managed to accidentally refer to chopsticks as 'knitting needles'; Pokemon shouldn't be any different.
Firefly is my reference point, not that the girl has to be a fan necessarily but that they at least accept my nerdness/fandom over the series... but I get you. It ain't a FYL or a YDI, you just went on a date with a girl who didn't like who you were. You dodged a bullet and she gets to go be herself with someone else who doesn't like pokemon. Essentially a win-win.

If she doesn't respect pokémon she doesn't deserve respect.
You're better off this way. You need someone who can appreciate Pokemon!
