Today, I was comforting my friend who has a toxic relationship with her Mom. She said, "If I'm such a failure, they always make it known that I can't live up to their expectations." Maybe she doesn't mean it like you specifically are a bad person. Maybe she just resents the fact that she had kids at all, or when she did. Maybe becoming a mother and having to dedicate your whole life to bringing up another person ****** up whatever plans she had for her own life.
