Today, both my car and my father's car were broken into. They stole my radio, purse, wallet, camera, and multiple items of clothing. What did they take from my dad's car? Some screwdrivers to help rip my radio out of my dashboard. FML

I'm sorry, but I think EVERYONE who said YDI is an idiot. OP should be able to leave WHATEVER she wants in HER own car! When did we become a society that actually DEFENDS criminals? My work truck was stolen one night from in front of my house, I lost $20k in tools, should I have not left valuables in my truck?? No, the SOB who stole it shouldn't have! It's no wonder our society is going downhill when people draw penises on their friend's faces for fun. Anyway, done with my rant, OP sorry for your loss, I know how you feel. The rest of you... You'll know someday.

I don't think the people saying 'YDI' are defending the criminals, they are simply saying that the items wouldn't have been stolen if they weren't left in the car (most likely in plain sight). sorry for your loss though robberies are no fun

Unfortunately we live in a world where criminals are opportunists, if they see something like that they'll take their chances. The people saying YDI aren't defending criminals, they're making the point that nowadays (man I sound old) it's not worth making it easier by leaving this stuff around. Sad fact of our times, but true. Having said that, it's really shitty your stuff got stolen too. Some people are just out to be bastards.

Sadly we live in a world of criminals and there's not much we can do to stop them. But there is one thing we can do - don't tempt them. When people leave valuables out in the open in a car we are making it easy for the criminals...just smash the glass of a window and they got their stuff! It is what it is and that's the world we live in. Accept it, bro!

How stupid do you have to be to leave your purse in your car? Also, why did you have "multiple items of clothing" in your car? Sounds like you use your car as a catch-all. Maybe clean it and don't leave your valuables in such a tempting spot next time. Or you could just leave the doors unlocked so the thief doesn't have to damage your window
