That's not a good work environment. Some people are just retarted for finding fun in those things. I would quit.
A good work environment? the kid works in a kitchen. Dirtier stuffs happen there. I work in kitchens and I can say, this is what I wish I got. Chefs and cooks can be ruthless. You just gotta one-up them and they'll respect you. It's all fun and games.
Yeah, this is called assault. Not funny.
Are you sure you just weren't dreaming of an episode of the Office?
Hazing should always be funny, maybe a little mean, but in the end harmless. Like saran wrapping someones car or something, when it gets out of hand, you tell them I've got Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary waiting for ya, right here. and then hold up your fists
ok quys, lets play ball. I got the bat.....
thats not too bad, plus your boss sounds like a fun guy, which is cool because that'll make the job more fun than if you had a strict uptight boss. it shows he's willing to goof around with you, so be happy that he's a chill person instead of a hardass that will make your work life hell. and look on the bright side, it may be your turn now, but then when there's another new person then you can join on the fun.
The manager threw stuff at you because you kept in licking your lips and imagining he was Clay Aiken.
Have we really come to the point where reporting people for beating you up is considered "ruining the fun" and "over reacting". No, reporting a work place for allowing the hazing of new hires to include physical assault is just common sense. Scratch that. Common sense would include not physically assaulting someone. This is not a joke and this is not acceptable. Having your boss laugh it off by throwing ketchup packets is, to say it simply, out of line. I have to believe that everyone who has stated otherwise is simply trying to be funny. Much like your coworkers, their sense of humor seems to be missing something very important (wit, as the case may be).
