Today, after a 16-hour work day, I came home to my husband. I talked to him for about 10 minutes, then realized that he wasn't answering me but had his headset on and was talking on Xbox live. Not even playing a game, just talking. FML

Today, I came home upset about the sexism in my work place. I just wanted to be alone, but my husband insisted we talk about it. I noticed he kept looking over and one of his hands was moving. He was playing video games the entire time I was spilling my guts. FML

Today, I haven’t spoken to my husband in a week, and when I finally spoke to him he thanked me because he’s gotten so much work done round the house, caught up on all his paperwork for his job, and reconnected with his Xbox friends. I didn’t realise I was such a fucking distraction. FML

Heated gaming moment

Today, I went to my boyfriend's house after working a night shift. The door was locked and, so I wouldn't wake his parents, I called him. Twelve times. Each call went to voicemail and I was left standing outside in the freezing rain until he finally let me in. What was he doing? Playing video games. FML

Today, my husband said a cheery, "Hi!" to me after 4 hours of nonstop Zoom calls. I spun around happily and greeted him back. Turns out he just joined another Zoom call. FML

I don't see how this could be a YDI. Me and my wife work long hours and barely see each other. He wasn't even playing a game. He could have said "just a few minutes, I'm talking to someone", or, get up and at least give her a hello kiss. Just acknowledgement that she exists...

Or how about he tells the person he's talking to,"Hey, sorry, I have to go, my wife just got home. I'll get back to you later?" After a 16 hour work day, I think she deserves his undivided attention. She is his WIFE after all.

As others have said, maybe he just didn't realize she was there. Maybe he had just finished a thrilling game and was still talking to one of his coplayers, completely absorbed into the conversation. If this was the case and the wife just took it for granted that he was listening, then it's a YDI. If he saw her talking and decided to ignore her, then I completely agree with you.

how tf do we know she was being ignored? he probably didn't notice her come in the house because of his headset. and why did it take her 10 minutes to notice he isn't talking to her. but its ****** up if he was ignoring her.
