Next time announce your presence better. I agree with the "appear naked in front of him" and "take ONE side of his headphone and announce you're there". Good headphones isolate any sound OUTSIDE it and prevent any from getting out. Wasn't his fault. If you want him to notice you while getting home without any of those advices, try moving the sofa to a position which he could see the front door.

You might need to get your own x-box and head set to talk to your own husband.

Why are you complaining about a 16 hour work day? Some of us have to deal with 24 hour work days and those make a 16 hour seems lovely.
People you meet in online games often become your real friends. Thus talking to them, even without playing, is quite normal.
