Today, I turned in an essay about a book I'd read over the summer. My teacher later called me to her desk and began to gush about how interesting the book sounded and asked to borrow my copy. The book I wrote about isn't real, and the main characters are named after my childhood pets. FML

Maybe you have a natural talent in writing. You should look into writing an actual book

Looks like it's time to write a book

Easy enough to say your essay "was a work of fiction not fact which of course does not take anything from the literary value of the work".

Just tell the truth. He/She might give you full points for creativity!

yes at this point it might be best to just say 'I made the book up'. You may have a talent for writing which she might recognise and she might get you to write more, or get you to read a book. But it might be best to just tell her

just say it was (for example) your aunts unpublished novel so you can't really give it away. or maybe just read a ******* book next time, ydi

Haha betcha she didn't recognise the title, googled it to find it didn't exist, and is now psyching you out. Better get writing quick OP ;)

Then the teacher would try to get it at the library and they'd tell her it doesn't exist.

It's possible she was on to you and was trying to make you admit it. I still hope you responded with something like, "my aunt visited over summer and lent it to me, but she took it with her when she left." Otherwise YDI.

1) say you borrowed it from a friend 2) you should take up a career in creative writing
