Didn't the woman think maybe telling this guy that she asked op to help with the luggage then the guy could have realized his fault and carried the luggage back down and apologize to op
#5, have you ever been tackled by a full-grown man intent on causing you harm? I assure you it's not fun and I doubt OP would've been in a position to do much fighting back.
Alright, first of all, a man TACKLING a woman? First indication something is wrong with him. Second, what was the indication that you were stealing it if she wasn't calling for help or anything? You weren't running away, she wasn't screaming, you could have been her daughter (or daughter-in-law, if it was obvious for one reason or another that there was no blood relation), family friend or some kind of nurse/elderly assistant or whatever they call those people. Third, even after we accept the fact that this man made the dumbest possible conclusion and then went about solving it in the dumbest possible way aside from shooting OP in the head, what in the hell told him that it was that lady's luggage and not yours in the first place if you were that far apart from eachother? That's my second biggest problem with this story. The first being why the blazing hell did NEITHER of you, in all the time it took for him to get upstairs, hand her the luggage and then get out of earshot, which may have very well involved him coming back down the stairs and walking right past you again, to explain what the situation was? I can accept a bit of lapse in judgement, but this story has too many holes for me.
OP is a girl. So, that probably wasn't the case.
45 - true but if you come across a situation half way way through it, it may be an idea to figure out what's happening before pouncing on a random stranger.
Sounds like you got to the bottom way before she did, next time stay with the person you're helping?
But if they are moving at a snails pace and you have a heavy suitcase in your hands, you might be better going ahead and then putting it down to save your own back.
Douche...

Don't even attempt to help her cross the road then. You may not live through the experience.
