Well yeah I do, my phone is dodgy and sometimes it opens the wrong conversation with the right name, and I know how I text certain people so I check the last text.

Not all phones do that, mostly just smart and android phones. Mine doesn't keep conversations, just individual texts, and only holds about 100 Inbox texts :/

Or, the OP did start the conversation with a "hey" and his mom replied back with a generic greeting and the OP had no reason to suspect that he was talking to his mom as opposed to his girlfriend, and his mom thought "hey, my son is messaging me."

104 - I was thinking the same thing, there wouldn't really be any red flags until it was too late, cuz I don't know about you guys but personally I don't identify myself every time someone texts me "hey" It could easily've gone: Op - hey, whats up? Mum - nothing much, you? Op - nothing, just sitting around, think about you and how much I want to [....] Or something of the like

I would think that you could at least recognize one of the two numbers to know something was up... Maybe even memorize your girlfriend's number.

56- I don't know about you but when a number is in my contact list and I have their name there it dont show the number unless I click into their contact info.
