Keep quiet

Today, trying to impress my in-laws, I put a lot of effort into selecting a nice bottle of wine for dinner at their house. When I got there, I gave the bottle to my wife's mother. Later, my father-in-law emerges from the kitchen to berate his wife over her poor choice of wine. It was mine. FML

hopefully you stood up for your mother-in-law and told her husband if he didn't like your taste in wine to purchase his own.

Welp, you tried, ultimately though, you failed. The important question: did you stand up for the mom in law, or not? That wins you points in the moms book, or makes you lose points.

Note to self: NEVER treat your wife the way her father treats her mother!!! Your father in-law is at best a rude and disrespectful jackass!

FHL for being married to a jackass

Hint: Whenever you take wine as a gift for your host it's an insult to assume it's for that night. It's like saying they don't drink good wine or have enough for everyone. If the host chooses to open it that's up to them.

I clicked YDI as soon as I saw "Trying to impress". Always do, not going to change.

Sure, **** your life, but moreover, **** her life. In a healthy marriage, neither spouse berates the other about anything, let alone something petty like choosing wine.

Ikr? I took a double take when I read that part.
