instead of cutting him off you should have a conversation with him about what is and isn't acceptable to you in bed. maybe the choking is something he is into, and he assumed you were into it too, which is exactly why you need to talk

No, it does seem like every girl who says "live a little; I love when my boyfriend does that" is looking for attention. Who cares if they like it? They don't have the same preferences as everyone else. Just because they supposedly like it doesn't mean everyone else should. They're also not taking into account phobias; "live a little"? Really? For all you* know, she may have a better and more adventurous sex life than you do. * - You, being all those who "like being choked".
