Knowledge is power

Today, I said that I wasn't expecting someone to say salt made a food sweet. My friend then decided to explain what salt is, a flavor enhancer, and "like when it's on the rim of a Margarita." Really? We're all in college and I'm the only one who keeps their grades up. I know what the fuck salt is. FML

You may know that salt is salty, but did you know why every cake recipe asks you to add a pinch of salt to the flour before mixing it in the wet ingredients? Do you know where the salted caramel craze comes from? Because salt is a flavor enhancer, that's why.

Just wait until that friend is a top-class chef and you're trying to understand why Taco Bell is the latest fast food chain to reject you despite your grades. Life has a funny way of changing the script, as it were.

Tell me your friends a guy without telling me your friend is a guy

Yes salt is salty but it is a flavor enhancer. As a hobby, I've baked for close to 16 years now and I've not come across a baked good recipe that didn't have salt in it. Fact is, salt is needed for baking, and it actually makes your baked good sweeter. What this clearly shows is that you may be brain smart but you've clearly never tried cooking or baking a wide variety of foods before. Being smart in school does not always equal to being smart in everything else in life.
