must have a Siamese haha because that's what mine does.
Have you tried endlessly meowing back? I know I would haha
My cat has decided that I shall not be up past midnight. If I am not in bed by then, she runs around my apartment like a furry ballistic missile for about an hour.
I'm not referring to the cat in my picture, by the way. She passed away a couple years ago :(
You're lucky, my 10 month old kitten is afraid of the dark. I have 2 options at sunset take him to bed or turn on every light in the house. otherwise he has a panic attack (hyperventilating & puking) FML He was orphaned before his eyes opened & our city shelter has the lights on 24/7, so he never knew darkness till I adopted him... My vet figured it out. ($500 Later)
That's honestly so cute
Kill it
Get a dog
Start a new habit of putting the cat outside before you go to bed. Pretty soon the cat will stop reminding you it's bed time :)
Ah yes, good idea - put the cat outside where it can tear up other people's yards, kill local animals and other people's pets, get run over, or captured and tortured to death by the local serial-killers-in-training. Or you could be a responsible pet owner and *not* let your cat outside without supervision and a leash.

Invest in some nice noise cancelling headphones.
