Law and order

Today, at the age of 20, I still have a bed time. It is strictly enforced by my cat via endless meows if I am up past 11 pm. FML

fair enough tbh someone's gotta lay down the law

Invest in some nice noise cancelling headphones.

Your kitty loves you and is looking out for your best interests. Isn't that nice?

I had a cat like that several years ago (he went over the rainbow bridge 5 years ago, but I had him for 8 years). He always came to get me at bedtime and let me know that it was time to go to bed. During the summer I would stay up to help Mom can stuff from the garden. One night he came out as always and I told him that I would be back in a few minutes (the canner had several more minutes but I didn't want Mom to fall asleep and risk having it blow up). He went back and exactly 2 minutes later, he came back. He sat on the floor and meowed at me (more of an "ow" but that was his "meow"). I told him to go back to bed and I'd be back in a few minutes (again). Exactly two minutes later, he was back again. He stretched out on the floor, glared at me and started thumping his tail against the wood floor. It reminded me of how people will lean against something (wall or counter) and start tapping their foot when they get impatient. I told him that the canner was almost done and that I could go back at that point so he should just "go get comfy" and that I'd be right back (by this point both Mom and I are laughing). He went back (again) but was back out within a minute, sat right in front of me and meowed loudly (an actual "meow") which sounded very similar to a very demanding "NOW!!!" Mom and I lost it as the timer went off and we turned the canner off (and he got his way). Apparently he could not only tell time but he could also read a timer. He was very smart about a lot of strange things (opening doors, opening windows, telling time, knowing to be gentle with kids who didn't know not to pull on the "movey part on the back" (tail) or carry by the neck (the kids (my very young cousins who, because of family allergies, didn't know what a cat was, much less how to act around them and were only 2) were quickly stopped and told not to do that but little kids can be tricky sometimes.), but very stupid about others (water in a bathtub when someone is trying to take a bath for example). He was always providing some sort of entertainment. I still miss that goofball. We took in a few strays and one of them does something similar.

I have a cat who used to do that too. She was very strict--had to be in bed by a certain time or there would be hell to pay. She wanted to go to sleep in my be and couldn't/wouldn't unless I was there so she felt the need to impose a bedtime. Thankfully she grew out of it. Never heard of another cat who did this. Glad to know I'm not the only one who was held accountable to a feline!

My mom has a magnet on her refrigerator that reads: DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF. Seems like it fits here.

this cat loves you and is concerned about your rest! lol.

I honestly couldn't give a **** about that; what I want to know is why you put this under the "intimacy" category?
