Looking for love in Alderaan places

By not4geeks - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I went out on a first date with a cute guy. Turns out we won't be going on a date again because I didn't know the difference between "Star Wars" and "Star Trek." FML

How do you not know the difference? YDI. I'm a girl, and I'd dump you for that. It's proof positive that your interests clash.

Just because someone isn't familiar with a particular part of mainstream pop culture, doesn't mean they are lacking any sort of depth or intelligence. I hardly know the difference at all, and I'm far from being an airhead. I've just never been interested. But then again, I'm more of a bookworm than a sci-fi nerd (and I use that term lovingly).

eww. he was lame anyway. at least he broke it off early so that you didn't have to avoid him..lol

YDI. u should know not to piss off guys like that. Star Wars and Star Trek are srs bsns.

#220- 99% of sci-fi movies originated as books. Perhaps you should broaden your bookworm horizons. And while it might not indicate a lack of intelligence or depth, it does indicate a disinterest in the world around you, which usually indicates a pretty severe sense of self-interest.

FYL because some might be easily mixed up but... YDI because there is a huge difference.

@64: thats like saying its not ur fault u dont know the difference between shaving cream and sour cream...dumbass

#225: Indeeeeed, but, as I've implied, I am not interested in Sci-fi and therefore see no reason to put forth effort to gain knowledge about Star wars/Trek. Your perceptions are entirely wrong. I find it hilarious that, from someone indicating a disinterest in Star Wars/Trek, you infer that said person must be disinterested in the world and self-absorbed. Instead of jumping to psychological/personality-related conclusions, why not contemplate the idea that I'm just not into general pop culture? :D

... :| How do you.. not... know that.
