Just to help you out, Star Wars is a duo of trilogies that trace a family (the skywalkers) and it s more about the wars that the family is part of and the battle between the jedi (good guys) and sith (bad guys). On the other hand star trek is exploring the relationship between humans from our world and other alien species and how they would interact. Star Trek is more into pilosophy ( although star wars has it's own philosophy too).

you don't have to be a "geek" to know the difference. you just have to have at least a minimal awareness of the world. obviously, your date has some standards. i'm a girl and i think its completely legitimate for him to not want to date a dumb girl.

@277 I would think the person who didn’t know the difference between the civil war and WWII equally as stupid as the person who didn’t know the simple difference between star wars and star trek. These 2 movies aren’t just a hugggeee piece of pop culture, they’ve manage to shaped the world we live in today. It’s astonishing for anyone who wasn’t born within the last decade not to know the simple differences. No you dont have to be a nerd, no you dont have to be a fan of either, no you do not need to go out of your way to gain this knowledge. It’s just common knowledge, even people who hate any sort of sci fi can tell you the difference. .... You really need to be living in a cave, blind or deaf not to notice the differences. Jeeeesus
