I didn't get my car until I was 19, and I paid for it myself. Things you earn yourself are so much better, plus you are going to take better care of it because you spent your own money.
well said. I bought my own 1st car.. even though my dad promised me one...but then again, he is a paranoid schizophrenic, & selfish cheapskate who spent hundreds of thousands flying to Israel because "God told him to goto the Holy Land" & lost our families 190-some acre property to foreclosure from all the money he borrowed on it to do so. this kid needs to stop griping.
@106 - I totally disagree. There's no way I could have earned enough for the SUV my parents bought me. So anything I could possibly buy would be a junker that is not as nice as my vehicle. Also I disagree with > "plus you are going to take better care of it because you spent your own money.' I take very good care of all the things my parents buy me because I'm super appreciative of them as I realize how fortunate I am.
But 206 you are not everyone. A lot of kids don't give a crap because mummy and daddy can just buy a new one. I'm 24 and don't even have a licence because I can't afford lessons and my parents can't afford to pay for them either (and I would never ask them to).
And a lot of kids aren't everyone. A lot of kids appreciate what their parents get them. I know I sure as hell did and most people in my high school did as well. I too wouldn't have ever been able to afford the first car my dad gave me [1) he wouldn't let me get a job in high school, 2) I wouldn't have been able to have one along with school anyway, and 3) he gave me one of his cars that was RELIABLE instead of a junker that would break down occasionally so it cost money.] There's nothing wrong with parents giving their kids a reliable car. Maybe the new generation of twats in high school are less appreciative but in my high school almost all of us appreciated what our parents did for us and that was only a few years ago.
it's so that when you kill yourself with teenage inexperienced driving, you'll have a place to be buried...don't be such a whiny, greedy child...get a job & buy your own car & save your parents some cash, you little ingrate!
How prestigous!
just preparing you for the future....
who said parents have to buy their kids cars? stop being a spoiled bitch.... BITCH!
I think it was more of a comparison thing rather than her assuming she would get one. She wouldn't be able to drive it yet anyway!
well the only thing guaranteed in life is death!
You forgot taxes... that's another guarantee.
yea, some spoiled douche bags get cars for their 17th birthday. other 17 year olds WORK for their car. or they split the difference - hey mom and dad, I saved up 2,000 but I need 4,000 - can you please spot me? a gravesite is much more valuable on the long run. in the meantime - congratulations!! you are a property owner!
well they were creative in a weirdly morbid sense...wonder how they gave it to you "well son it's what you always wanted Ur very own graveeee" hope ur bday want completely shit...
