Today, I got a call from the police that my house had been burglarized, but an off-duty cop caught the criminal. I pull up to see my detained, psycho ex-boyfriend sheepishly grinning at me. He had three of my lace panties and two of my bras, claiming it was "all for memories' sake". FML

I mean, people are forgetting he robbed her house... he has criminal charges already he's at least going to jail.

He committed burglary not robbery. Robbery is a typically violent crime that involves taking something from an individual, burglary on the other hand involves breaking into a location to commit a crime. Now if she was home it would be both burglary and robbery.

Because she wasn't at home. It is only robbery if you are physically taking something from person by violence or threat of violence. Burglarizing a building while no one is present is committing larceny but because there is no one present it cannot be robbery. Different crimes have different elements that must be satisfied.

At least he got caught. If he seems more obsessive than violent, it may be worth your while to get a restraining order. If he got in using a key, change the locks. If he broke in, you may want to invest in a security system and let the neighbors know.
