Today, a friend had invited me to Christmas dinner since I have no family close by. When I got there, she told me that her and her husband had forgotten they had another dinner to go to, and asked if I would watch their kids for them. They each grabbed a handful of cookies I had baked and rushed out the door. FML

Today, my stepmom asked me to bake pies for a dinner party she was having. Since I love baking, I said yes. When I went to deliver the pies, I found out they were for a family dinner I wasn't invited to. FML

Today, my best friend came over for dinner and a movie. Moments after arriving, she spent an hour on the phone, and ended up accepting another invitation before leaving. I guess it's dinner for one tonight. FML

Today, I got a call from a girl I know, asking if I could babysit her little brother at my house tonight. I said yes. When the boy came over, he mentioned that his sister was having a party and didn't want him there. Turns out all my friends were invited except me. FML

Today, I went over to my mother-in-law's house to have dinner. I was excited she invited me, since I thought she didn't like me. I ended up hanging her Christmas lights in a snowstorm while they had s'mores by the fire. FML

Today, my "friends" and I were supposed to go out to eat to celebrate finishing the last day of school, but with a full day of work first, I decided to go buy them donuts. They decided to ditch me while I was gone, and go early. FML

Today, during my daughter's 8th birthday at a skating rink, a family showed up that didn't RSVP. The mother brought all 3 of her kids and left them at the party alone. She didn't feed them lunch and they followed me around the whole time asking for money. FML

Today, I went to visit a friend I hadn't seen in ages who lives alone out in the country. I arrived and found the front door unlocked but no one was home. I went in anyway and helped myself to some food. Then a family I had never seen before came in, and I realized it wasn't my friend's house. FML

It seems to me as if they baited you into coming just to have you babysit their kids OP. If similar things have happened before you might want to reconsider them as friends.

I hope you let the kids run wild, taught them inappropriate words, and all sorts of things. They're alive and healthy when the parents come back but they will definitely think twice before pulling that crap on anyone else. ONE person could have forgotten the "other party" but TWO people? And not calling you as soon as they realized it? Total setup. Have fun next time letting the kids play dress-up (with good clothes, makeup, cologne...), "baking" in the kitchen (no electric devices but they can have a lot of fun with flour, sugar, milk, bowls...), and building all sorts of forts. Muddy shoes on the furniture is a nice final touch. It'll cost them about as much to clean as it would have cost them to hire a babysitter.

**** that, you didn't agree to go over there just to mind their kids for free. If that happens you take their kids to the nearest police station and tell them "their parents abandoned them with me, I did not agree to be their guardian, tell them to collect their kids from you", then find actual friends.
