Misunderstanding

Today, as I was walking home, three burly men suddenly began to approach me. Thinking they were going to mug me, I reached for my pocketknife and said, "Stay away, I have a knife." Turns out they just wanted directions to an ice cream shop for their daughters, who were now bawling their eyes out. FML

YDI moron. 1 - for carrying a knife in the first place. Most knife related deaths are caused using the victims' own knife. And 2 - For assuming that a "burly" guy is a mugger. I know plenty of "burly" guys that wouldn't hurt a fly unless they were in danger themselves. Judgemental asshole.

There is nothing wrong with carrying a knife, provided that you plan on using it for general utilitarian/handyman purposes for 99% of the time, then its alright. Although where I live (and in the UK) the people are so paranoid about knives that the governments put up these ambiguous and moronic regulations. It is not the knife, it is the stupid gangs and lack of responsibility, education and parenting thats causing the problem. What happened to the days when the knife (Particularly Pocket Knife) was tool first, weapon last?

Very true. Plus, I question how much damage could actually be achieved by trying to attack someone with a pocket knife. Most pocket knives don't have the length to hit anything really vital and generally are not that sharp. And besides, people who get hurt by their own knives are idiots. The_Disturbed. Most home gun related injury's are caused by the peoples own guns. Probably more so than knives, which proves it's not the tools but the people. Idiots who don't know how to use their tools properly will always get hurt by said tools.

exactly, i own a couple pocket knives, one of them being loose enough to flick open, the other being a swiss army knife. a also own a foot long survival knife and a sword. I'm in 10th grade and i got my first knives somewhere around 5th grade and i have cut myself about 2 times and never stabbed myself

lol. they weren't three burly men, they were 2 burly men and 2 daughters with one standing on the other ones' shoulders. that's why they were bawling their eyes out. girls dont like to be called burly men.
