Today, my boss said he's worried about our network, becausen "WiFi's all in the air. People could spy on us from anywhere!" I sarcastically said, "My god, you're right!" and suggested switching to tin-foil ethernet cables to stop the signal escaping. He told me to do it ASAP. This moron makes five times my salary. FML

Ever heard of Magneto. Guess where im heading with this.

Knowing technology doesn't prove u are intelligent, he is increasing the profits of the company tell me how much to the profit making are u contributing ??

Why do you automatically assume the boss is increasing company profits? For all we know, he doesn't do anything and only occasionally rouses himself to say a couple of things. Some of the managers that I had were incredibly useless, so just because he's in that position doesn't signify much. And all OP has to do to "contribute to company profits" is do his job. There's no need for him to be a manager to keep profits up

"he is increasing the profits of the company" He is? Really? In what capacity? Do you have access to the company's books or something? I assume you must, since you know whether or not something as specific as an individual employee is directly affecting revenue. Please, run the numbers by us.

this moron of yours actually has a point without even knowing it. but "spying" and "tin-foil"? seriously.

Prepare a cost study of replacing all the cables $$$$ to paying you as a consultant to install network security $$$. Promotion and raise fo you

You have broken a cardinal rule of the navy. Never say something stupid in front of someone who can make policy.

actually it's not that hard to remote in to wifi, that's why organizations like the military don't use it.....

I found this to be the case in a few of my jobs previously. I then wonder why the **** I'm on an above average wage and they're on double and they can barely spell. I feel your pain.

He's... not COMPLETELY wrong, actually. WiFi signals can be intercepted or augmented via techniques like "man-in-the-middle" (MITM) attacks. HOWEVER, this is really only a concern on unsecured connections. If the connection is secure, the only risk is from people who already have access to the system anyway (and since they will most likely have an individualized login, it would not be hard to trace any disruption back to its source).

I don't know why this was downvoted. You're right. Information sent over wifi can be intercepted, although it can't easily be unencrypted if the network is secure. This is actually a reason it's important to put a password and encrypt your WiFi with WPA/WPA2.
