My new house

Today, I bought my first house, blowing nearly all my savings on the deposit. I had left myself enough for just a couple of necessary bits of furniture. It turns out the previous owner completely stripped the house when he left, taking the oven and even the toilet with him, amongst other things. FML

If only there were some sort of agreement between the buyer and seller that would specify what the seller needed to leave in the property. You could call it something like "contract."

How can someone take a toilet? Those two must have been through a lot of shit together lol

I understand taking the oven but really the toilet? You would take the toilet with them unless they had some strang toilet fetish.

Wow, the guy who sold you the house must have bought a home that was completely empty..

I can understand the seller being emotionally attached to his toilet. You spend a lot of intimate moments on your porcelain throne.

The contract should have stated whether chattels were included.. Thats the first thing the real estate agent should have told you..and spending everything you have to buy a house isn't a good idea that's why people end up forclosing... You should have at LEAST 6 month mortgage payments cuz if u lose your job u will literally b up shyt creek without a toilet or a paddle.smh

Why didn't you look at the house before you bought it?!? You deserved it for signing on a house before you investigated it lol.

If your contract doesn't state the previous owner was going to take the appliances or toilet, then you are entitled to refuse the purchase of the house. The house must be in the condition it was in, when the contract was signed. They must replace everything they took, otherwise you have the right to back out of the sale. Contact your real estate agent.
