When teaching my mother how to use a computer, she shared this advice. "You have to teach me like you would a 1st grader. No, you have to teach me like you would a 1950's 1st grader." That is Great advice when working with people I would assume are my parents age. Not the decade, but the concept. Know your audience and teach at their pace. That is what I see here. It appears you did a good job getting her online. That alone can be quite the challenge. Likely thi issue was information overload. In the future consider pacing yourself. teaching only public posts and letting them get used to that for a while (longer for us older farts). Then move review with her and help her understand the nuances of spam and scam. Privacy should be a great lesson by itself. Then go on to private messaging. Maybe the order could have started with private messaging and built up to public posting. Again, know your audience and don't go to fast for us old farts.
