Today, while chatting with my in-laws, I told them about my upcoming spinal surgery. Soon after, when I went to get us some drinks, I overheard them murmuring about how many surgeries I've already had, how I'm a drain on the healthcare system, and how I should ideally just die. FML

Today, I heard my surgeon mutter to a nurse how easy it would be to kill me on the operating table and make it look like an accident. FML

Today, a number of people came to visit me in the hospital, including my grandparents. They called me "weak" and "a cowardly millennial" for going to the ER instead of sucking it up, and blamed me for rising healthcare costs. I had a compound fracture. FML

Today, after having surgery, I called my family to tell them I was out, safe, and on my way home. The first thing they asked was if they could "borrow" some of my pain meds. FML

Today, my surgeon was talking to me about my upcoming heart bypass operation. I was extremely nervous from the start, but he somehow managed to keep saying things like "death", "fatalities", "high-risk", and "never wake up" throughout. FML

Today, I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition. My parents seemed very sympathetic and my mother even cried. When we got home, though, they started laughing and asked if I really believed all the shit the doctor was talking about. FML

Today, I was talking to my only grandson about how I was going to the dentist to get my teeth fixed and how it was going to cost a lot of money, he replied saying "Who cares, you're going to die soon anyways". FML

Today, I got my wisdom teeth taken out. The two male doctors told me they'd give me anesthesia, but when they did, I could still hear them. I heard them talking about my breasts and how flat they were for a 17 year old. FML

Good lord, that's awful. Things like this make me grateful my fiancé's family likes me. I'm really sorry OP. If it's any help, you're not a drain on the system, people like them are though. I hope your surgery goes well, best of luck!

I feel your surgical pain man. I've racked up 14 so far and my 15th is on the horizon. I also had two spinal surgeries to fix my scoliosis (Nearly bleed to death on the first so they had to cut it short.). Hang in there man and ignore you heartless in-laws. You can get them back when they are old. Good luck on your surgery and I hope all goes well.

my mother in law tried to convince my at the time boyfriend (now hubby) that I got pregnant on purpose to trap him since my parents were leaving. my aunt in law told him to "dump the bitch and pay child support, you dont need her" on two totally different times. lets start a "in laws hate us for nothing" club.
