Well OP, you pay for that Health Care system same as everyone else does. If you need it, you should use it.
Wow, I know they are in-laws and all, but that doesn't sound like a human thing to say at all... I'd try not to take it too seriously. Also, if you're paying for health care then you've got the same right as everyone else to use it. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

Yikes OP that blows but hey when it's time for their surgeries and other health related treatments you can remind them of what they said.
I would of left them an upper decker and walked straight out the door.
