Nice of you

Today, I threw a party at my girlfriend's house before her parents came home from vacation. After the party, I found all of her mom's favorite wine glasses broken. I spent $500 on new glasses, and wrote a huge apology for the party and the damage. She got home and told me that they were already broken. FML

Smashing party! ;-) Next time don't do something you shouldn't have and then you won't find yourself caught short when you try cover it up.

You owe them much more than that for busting their daughter's hymen.

Good show, dude. you may have used 500$, but now you left a good impression on your girl's mom.

I'm betting this got downvoted because people think he deserves it for having the party. While that may be true, I know a lot of people who would completely forgive, forget, and sometimes like someone who did wrong to them even more if you go through that much trouble to make it up to them. There's a good chance OP's girlfriend's mom is someone like that.

WTF?! did your crazy girlfriend's parents keep broken glasses? and why you did not see these glasses before party? and how you can find broken glasses after party? all this story looks like a total shit and story teller too...

atleast OP is sweet and not a total dbag...but why a party at ur gfs...u don't even mention her in the fml lol

at least they know your a good kid

why is everyone saying he's a good kid for telling the truth?! the fact that he through a party at a house that wasn't even his is so disrespectful! so no he doesn't have a good heart and he's not a nice person! he probably bought the glasses to try and replace the broken ones and then not say anything about the party. The op is a dumb piece of shit.

Except for the letter of apology, I bet he totally thought he'd get away with it.

this is like he biggest fail ever.!

who keeps a bunch of broken glasses? why the hell didn't she toss them out when they broke?

Maybe keeping them for an art project?

I'm not sure if this is a YDI or FYL because I don't know if the parents knew about the party to begin with. So, if you threw the party without their permission, then you deserve to be out the $500 dollars. Even if you cleaned everything up and didn't break anything. But if you had their permission, then FYL for having that moment of OH MY GOD THEY'RE GOING TO HATE ME NOW. Either way you should still give the glasses to the mom, I think it would be a nice gesture and she would appreciate it. Unless you are broke and needed that money for bills, then hopefully the mom will understand and give them back. Maybe buy her some for Christmas?

If he's broke and still spent the money on the glasses then he's a real idiot.
