Today, I tried to blackmail my douchebag boss for a raise, since I had ample proof that he's screwing a co-worker. Turns out he and his wife are in an open relationship, and HR doesn't give a damn about office romances. Now I have to quit or deal with the most hostile work environment ever. FML

I can see that a terrible boss wouldn't reward hard work with a raise. That's a reality of life. Just because you work hard doesn't mean you'll get something in return, and people who think working hard equals rewards are either lucky or naive. But, turning to blackmail is a terrible idea. Better to leave s hostile environment than that.
