Nice try…

Today, I tried to blackmail my douchebag boss for a raise, since I had ample proof that he's screwing a co-worker. Turns out he and his wife are in an open relationship, and HR doesn't give a damn about office romances. Now I have to quit or deal with the most hostile work environment ever. FML

You're stupid enough to try and blackmail your boss for more money? You definitely deserve it.

Read the word "blackmail", instant YDI.

In what twisted reality would that ever not be your fault?

thats a dick move, you assumed you knew about his relationship and tried to act on it and it backfired, aint that a bitch

I wonder if OP's boss told him they were in an open relationship so that he wouldn't tell the wife. As much as OP does deserve it, the boss could still be lying.

Pretty sure committing a felony makes it a huge giant neon sign reading, "YDI".

My life mate and I are in such a relationship. If I really hated the blackmailer, I would tell her what he tried to do, then watch the fireworks.

Hopefully you just forgot to mention the part where your boss totally deserved it.. However blackmail is never the way to go. Let karma deal with it next time.

If you felt the need to blackmail your boss for a raise, I suppose you didn't deserve one in the first place.

Next time you want a raise, EARN IT. Don't try to screw people over just to get your own way.

Milk the cow as long as you can because if the HR department is halfway more competent than you are, you won't work there for much longer....while praying that they really are not as competent because blackmail can get you 14 years in the UK. (s.21 Theft Act 1968)
