Firstly: unless his WIFE also told you they were in an open relationship then I would tell her anyway...adultery is just plain unfair and horrible. Secondly: you should have had a contingency plan and be glad you still HAVE the job...for now. Leave asap, mate. And lastly: don't blackmail people, you arse. It's illegal, unfair, and karma is a bitch. We all make mistakes, we all want better paid jobs and we all wish we could be bad-ass enough to actually attempt blackmail. But it rarely ends well. You are no exception to that rule.
Your boss openly screwed you over, but YDI for trying to blackmail for a raise.
Blackmail is a stupid mood, but it's a fun word to say. BLACKMAIL!
lol genious mastermind at werk here guys... YDI... i can hardly contain myself, at least you made me laugh op
In what world would you expect sympathy for a failed blackmail attempt?
Based on the way this was written, I'm going to assume that you still worked there after that. And if you did, then you should consider yourself lucky that you got to keep your job after pulling a stunt like that, because I can imagine that a majority of other bosses would've sent you straight to the unemployment line if you tried to blackmail them for anything.

You're stupid enough to try and blackmail your boss for more money? You definitely deserve it.
Read the word "blackmail", instant YDI.
