The cop was just being an ass. If he can take time out of doing his duties to have a "decent conversation and catch up" but then resume writing a ticket at his leisure, he clearly wasn't 'just doing his job' so to speak. Unless he had a partner with him that would've complained if he let you off - which i doubt because I'm sure if a partner were waiting then the whole conversation/catch-up wouldn't have progressed very far at all, nor would it have done so if it were a serious offense/infringement. Welcome to the world of revenue raising tickets and cops on power trips.
No, the cop was doing his job. Learn the difference between "being a dick" and "doing a job." My father has gotten tickets from police officers AND had conversations with them, because when you work in a profession or at a job where you often interact with other people, you have conversations with people. Just because a cop talks with someone who he or she pulls over doesn't mean the driver is exempt from getting a ticket. Cashiers don't just check and collect money from customers; they talk to their customers, and chat with them. The same goes for cops. Additionally, I've had decent conversations with people in short periods of time, and "catching up" can mean anything from everything that's happened in the past X years, or anything that's happened in the past week. Just because they haven't seen each other in a long time doesn't mean they caught up about absolutely everything. They could have caught up about what's been going on currently in their lives, which could just mean that everything's been good, their families are good, etc. "Catching up" does not have to be limited to a lunchtime thing; it can be a few short minutes.
I'm pretty sure that a job that requires interaction with people does not necessarily mean it also entails conversations about one anothers lives or anything of the sort. Cops are paid to do their job, not waste time chatting. Even if it were a 2-3 minute conversation in which he took part in, that 2-3 minutes could have resulted in someone else having to wait that extra bit longer if in need of help, which, by the way, is an awfully long time in certain situations. You're comparison to that of a cashier is ridiculous, they're paid to smile and provide customer service, cops are paid to protect and serve not chat and gossip. But thank you oh wise law abiding citizen, it's nice to know there's people out there that still think the world is all lollipops and rainbows, thus relinquishing police from performing their proper duties =)
If you say so.
What all did you catch up on exactly? Maybe that helped with him still giving you the ticket...
Jim Carrey voice: STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!!!!!
Even if he was you in another life you still should've gotten a ticket. Just because you know them doesn't mean it calls for nepotism.
that's cops for you
Ofcourse he did. Doesnt matter that he's your relative. He has to do hos job. dont break the law next time and you wont get a ticket.
