There is nothing wrong with a home birth, however it is really odd to ask a neighbor to help clean up the mess. OP has options other than sitting home for 18 hours during the labor and delivery.

I was born in my house, but it wasn't on purpose. My mom didn't scream and the labor was only 5 minutes..........that's just me though......I dunno.....I'm not believing this.... *bring on the 'stop saying FMLs are fake' trolls*

you guys should have complained after 11pm since I believe most places have noise policies in place after midnight or a little before. Home birth or not you should have to respect your neighbors.

I am totally against home births, you don't have any medical staff there in case something goes wrong, and the baby is not professionally cleaned afterwards. There are just so many germs that a house/apartment holds that it's just not that safe.

Tell them you'll help, for $100 an hour and a minimum charge of 8 hours.

If you live in an apartment, why would you have a home birth...go to a hospital, nobody wants to hear somebody screaming for 18 hours. Some people need to sleep once in a while

Maybe it was your baby and she wanted to show you it before her husband claimed it was his?!
