If you're getting it dirty, you should clean it afterwards. But I agree that she should have told you if you weren't cleaning it often enough.
A couple of things occur to me: … (1) Food crumbs and debris in a toaster oven invite bugs… (2) Roommate’s toaster oven - They get to set the rules about using it… While it would have been best if roommate told you the rules upfront about their toaster oven, it should also be obvious that you don’t leave someone’s stuff in a mess when you use it - from one use or a weeks use.
