Maybe the thief is going to sell the clothes to a used-clothing shop? They do exist. And they would ask fewer questions than somebody taking in used electronics. As for the TV cables? Did you have high-end Monster cables? Otherwise that was one weird thief.
Well there are always those stories of people breaking into someone's house and just rearranging peoples furniture. The thief might not necessarily know the thief, could just be a random prankster.
If I were an officer, who recieves multiple calls a day, I would have trouble believing that someone would break into a house, leave the valuables, and steal some clothing and cables. Sounds like an old joke where a crook steals the tv remote, then drives by the house just to change the channel...
