On my own again, naturally

By Anonymous - 08/09/2012 17:27 - United States - Sandy

Today, I got into an argument with my mom over her sexist, emotionally-abusive boyfriend. I told her that either he goes or I go. She called me a disrespectful bastard for not respecting my "new father." I'm now sitting outside a McDonald's with my suitcase, leeching their WiFi. FML

I hate it when parents pick the boyfriend/girlfriend over their own children. Its irresponsible and selfish. Im sorry OP i hope things get better.

well I hate to say this, but maybe it is best you got out. If she won't listen, its best you get out of a potentially bad situation.

I've read all your comments on this fml including what a bitch this mother is for choosing her boyfriend over the son. There are several factors that we don't know including the age of the son and the type of relationship he has with his mother! Saying all this, unless you yourself have been in an abusive relationship, you can not possibly know how hard it is to get out of it! Calling her a bitch and selfish, seems to me is only adding to a form of abuse that she is already suffering from. Yes children should come first (which is why the age is important)! But when they hit adulthood, there comes a time when a parent should also look out for their self.

Compared to others this is an ACTUAL FML.

The "new father" thing bugs me. I wonder if it's actually a direct quote from the mom, which might suggest that op is a bit young and would also add to the frustration. I wish the fml gave a bit more info.

Denial. It takes a while for abused women to detach.

He left the house, therefore keeping his threat. Are you always so stupid or just on the internet?

My fiance went through the same thing :/ His step-dad held him raised against a wall and he has a scar on his arm from where a pipe was shoved through. He did the exact same thing.. he is now with his birth dad whom is a great person, and has only ever talked to his mom on the phone (He is now four states away). It's tough, I know. There are people that can help. I feel for you and hope it turns out ok.

I'm sorry OP. And I hope your mum can get out of that shitty relationship. Take care, both of you.
