okay. in no way am i saying that being a waiter/waitress is easy... but its sorta your "responsibility" to clean that up. she didnt have to help you. at least she tried to do something. and seriously, what did you expect her to do with the shards? i mean apparently she thought it would be okay to put them in your hand, i doubt she forced you to hold your hand out and stuffed them into your palm right? get over it.
i agree with everyone saying that this isn't a real FML.. whenever i clean up broken glass i put it in my hands. it doesn't cut you unless it has enough pressure on your skin.
i hope she tipped you. and to all you saying "at least she tried to help" - yeah, it's great to have a nice customer (and we give them better service for it!) but there's a reason we tell you not to help us clear up these messes. 1, health & safety etc etc obvious reasons. 2, because the customer often makes the job more messy, believe it or not. or, in this case, does something that IS very likely to hurt you. i'm gonna go out on a whim and guess that OP was NOT putting the glass into his bare hands, but into a napkin or dustpan. FYL.
The poster could have rearranged what he wrote if he got cut. Example: Today I seated a woman who accidentally knocked over a glass that shattered on the floor. I picked it up and she helped only so much as to dump shards in my hands, cutting me. FML. That's 180 characters. So don't make excuses for the poster being unable to include the key fact of shards breaking skin or not.
wth! I don't get it :S what's so shitty about that? :S
I probably would have done the same. She was obviously trying to help you, so I see no need for you to post it online for millions of people to see. YDI.
To everyone saying "What's the big deal?" It *IS* a big deal. I work at a restaurant as well and when plates/glasses break out in the dining area the customers are absolutely NOT allowed to help clean it up. It doesn't matter if they broke it or if a server did, but if a customer cuts themselves trying to "help" it's very likely that they will hold our or any other establishment responsible for the injury. And from the OP's post it doesn't even sound like the woman did a very good job at "helping" if she was carelessly dumping the glass into the OP's hands.
I agree, #1, she has a real job!

it's ok. i've been used as a personal shopping basket. some woman came in and asked for help, and proceeded to dump things she liked into my arms. #1, they've got a real job. uncalled for.
Where else is she supposed to put it? Shards of glass can't cut you by just dropping them into your hand; the glass doesn't weigh enough. What a drama queen.
