lololololol
The mother shouldn't have used you as an example if she didn't know how you would react, so that was silly of her. I've never had a problem with blood tests and needles so I can't sympathise with you about that but I have had a panic attack or two and they are nasty. Maybe next time you need a blood test you could ask the doctor for a mild tranquiliser, I've heard of them being used when people are scared of the dentist so it might work....
As someone that's spent his fair share of time in hospitals having bloodwork done, my only reaction is "what a little bitch." Not the little boy, but the OP. It's a little prick in the finger, you're not pinned beneath a snarling tiger that's rearing back to tear out your throat. Get a ******* grip.
#16 That was a horrible thing for you to say. The poster is obviously afraid of needles. Just because you aren't doesn't make their fear invalid. Although it may seem ridiculous to you, it's their worst nightmare. "It's a little prick in the finger, you're not pinned beneath a snarling tiger that's rearing back to tear out your throat." The feeling is the same. When people are put into a situation when they have to face their fears, this is exactly what it feels like, to me at least.
It's not about the pain of the needle, we know it doesn't hurt that much and the pain goes away quickly. Reminding us of that doesn't help the situation at all. I have a severe phobia of needles--to the extent that just thinking about going to the doctor makes me cry and I have nightmares about getting shots. There's really not that much you can do about it. I had to have 6 nurses hold me down once just to get a flu shot. I'm not afraid of blood, or the pain, it's just the thought of the needle entering my skin. I've many times chosen more painful alternatives to getting shots, such as weekly facial peels (which sting like hell and make your skin peel like a terrible sunburn, and you can't go out in the sun, even just stepping outside, without sunscreen, for days afterwards, for anyone who hasn't had them) instead of twice a year injected antibiotics for acne. So stop making fun of people who have fears of shots. I personally can't understand some people's fear of spiders at all, but one of my best friends can't even sit next to a wall because he thinks there will be more likelihood of spiders there. Everyone is different. It might not be "a big deal" to you, but to some people, it is a psychological condition that affects your life.
It's not a prick in the finger for me, they poke my arm…Haaa.
I am with #16 wholeheartedly.
My finger hurts just thinking about this.
LOL I would have been that little boy.
it doesn't hurt at all... hahaha. it's just a small needle that doesn't hurt... and you hyperventilate? for a young boy, like so in this FML, it's cool. for anyone who is old enough to know what FML means, it's weird. but i guess she shouldn't depend and rely on you to make her son feel better. still, no reason to freak out over a tiny blood drawing.
#4 I know girls braver than him
