Party time!

Today, I finally got my driver's permit. To celebrate, my parents decided to go to a bar and make me wait in the car because I'm now the designated driver. FML

Pretty sure it's still illegal, since you only have a permit and not a license. They're suppose to be instructing you, not using you. Parents these days.

Just wait until you become the errand boy. Fun times...

I can't WAIT for my kids to be old enough to do this!!! My parents would bring us to the bar all the time when we were young. We played pool. It was fun

Officer... I just don't feel right driving my parents around when they are impaired.

I dont know what the rules are like in Texas, but in Oregon when driving on a permit, the "supervisory" driver with you has to be able to drive as well. IE: NOT drunk/stoned/asleep etc.

Sounds like they stooped you. At least you will know better next time.

Am I the only one that thought "ha, fun parents!"? I mean, if they take it too far and get truly shitfaced that's very different. But having a couple beers together to "celebrate" the occasion then getting you to drive home sounds like a fun rite of passage to me. Then again, if they made you sit outside a bar by yourself I guess they weren't concerned with how far they were taking it...

Because you could lose your permit and the chance at a real license because of it? That doesn't sound like fun to me. The adult with you is supposed to be sober. And making you wait in the car doesn't sound like a couple of beers to celebrate. A celebration generally requires the person to be present during said celebration.

Sounds like some family members of mine. My cousin had JUST started driving and her parents called her one night to pick them AND their drunk friends up from a bar, while she was babysitting. -_-
