Pipe down, Pam

Today, a customer kept harassing me and threatening to sue me for all I'm worth because I wouldn't give her a free refill. Her reasoning was that it's "illegal" to deny people a free refill if there's still a little drink left in the cup. FML

Ignore her and move on. There is no case there so let her sue, she'll be laughed out of the courtroom and hopefully fined for wasting time.

Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. Do not count on them. Leave them alone. ~Ayn Rand

Lol. Coming from a psycho like Ayn Rand, um, yeah.

Do the words "ad hominem attack" mean anything to you, 37?

45, it's what they do. You get used to it after a while. The very mention of Ayn Rand gets whole groups worked up.

if this was true for all places, oh god... dunkin donuts wouldn't be able to get rid of me!

You should fill it back up with you piss and show her how many ***** you give.

That's what would be illegal.

I mean, I understand and all but working in the food service myself you could have just given it to her and been done with it. That would've saved you some time. Unless it was something rather expensive.

Some places would fire their employees for giving out free food and drinks if it was against company policy. I'm sure OP would rather deal with one tough customer than get written up for giving in to an obnoxious bitchy lady.

39 absolutely not. i am also in food service and giving in to an abusive customer breeds further abuse because if they get away with it this time, they will continue doing it. others will see this and say 'hey, i can do it too!' furthering our misery in dealing with the lowest fucktards in society

im not in food but I am in customer service and no you dont give into them. cant tell you have many times people have tried to rip me off and get stuff discounted (some over a $20 difference). id rather argue and tell them no and prove to them im right so they can shut up and stop being asshole customers.

Does that really matter the amount left? If it has to be bone dry to have a refill?

they do not offer free refills where op works. the fml is that the crazy bitch customer believes she can get a refill becuase her drink isn't completely finished.

I was hoping that worked for beer -- maybe we can amend the Constitution!

She threatened to sue just so she could get her way, because there's no way in hell that suit would last in court. The judge would quite literally laugh his ass off and tell her to get the **** out.

you should have forced a smile, said, "okay" and give her, her silly little drink, but with some 'special' sauce in it. Sorry OP, customers are asinine and ridiculous no matter where you work, so I feel your pain! Hopefully where you work doesn't have some stupid "the customer is always right, policy"

It's right there in the US Constitution, in the small print.
