Today, I realized that a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering does not offer enough knowledge and experience to accomplish some simple, everyday tasks. I have spent the last 12 years designing large robots to scour the seabed for shipwrecks yet the mechanism used to unhook a bra eludes me. FML

Inspiration for a new robot to design maybe?

Honestly it sucks for you. You failed your sophmore year.

216 I am assuming you failed out of whatever school you attempted and you're jealous. I'm a female engineer...(and no, that is not code for ugly, I hardly ever pay for drinks and often get let into clubs with out having to pay cover with a wink) ... and like my sex.... smart guys are way better at sex... sorry for all you people who feel bad for the "nerds" Many are actually hot and a blast in bed. And oh yea it's a lot hotter when your boyfriend comes home from work at the office rather than the Burger King.... hahaha

I totally agree! My boyfriend is a total nerd and epic in bed. He still fumbles a little with the bra though, but after he saw it the first time he hardly has problems

Dear OP- No worries, mate- WIS & CHA are where the social graces are at, but it's the folks that put all their points into INT to build and discover(bra deactivation sequences notwithstanding) sh!t that actually progress the species' standard of living. I sincerely doubt the mechanism of the bra-strap itself eludes you. I'd put my money on all the sh!t that comes with nerves in the in the heat-of-the-moment-department; particularly if it's new ground for you. Or hey, maybe you just never bothered to pursue this ah, 'subject matter'... OR it really does elude you. Whatever. Either way, I wouldn't be embarrassed- been in a fair share of awkward-but-adorable moments with SO's/mates where the 'mechanism' to a button-fly eluded them (now, granted none of us were born in the late 1800's when that kind of thing was all-the-rage, buuuut... they're buttons; not *quite* like the kind you press to blow up your robots if they act up, but close enough for logic to really -not- have to get involved when operating them). I'm sure when the day comes that it's time to cosplay Victorian-era vanity affairs as well, there will be wardrobe malfunctions. These things can even be fun, no need to be ashamed. /endrant

Ouch... fail. Dude... make a robot that'll do it for you! XD

Aw, don't worry, OP. If it makes you feel better, my bf almost dumped me last year because I spent all my time building an electron accelerator with my friends and no time with him. You'll find a nice nerdy girl who'll teach you :)

It took you time to discover that? Something's very wrong there. I don't see why this is a problem. If unhooking a bra is an everyday thing for you, well, haven't you heard the term 'practice makes perfect'?
