Private life

Today, a girl I rejected, who is also a good friend, wrote on Facebook, “I’m never letting a guy get close to me again!” when I finally posted my new girlfriend. I avoided posting her before to avoid hurting her feelings because I knew she was still pining for me. Now I feel like an asshole and I lost a good friend. FML
I agree, your life sucks 307

It sucks losing what you thought was a very good friend. If you feel you have to hide and tiptoe major things about you to avoid hurting someone, especially a romantic partner due to their personal romantic feelings towards you, chances are it's probably a good thing in the long run to distance yourself from them. Your overall happiness should be prioritized over avoiding hurting someone by making your romantic partner known.

I know it hurts, but it may be best to block her and not be in contact anymore.

Forget what she thinks. Post your girlfriend. You are not obligated to return her romantic feelings or walk on eggshells for your friend. You can’t help who you’re attracted to. Kudos to you to finding someone who you click with. But as much as it sucks for her, she needs to get over her limerence towards you and mature a little bit. If necessary, cut your ties with her (only because she reacted in such a passive agressive manner) and if your friendship is really important she’ll realize to stop pining for you and continue to be friends with you. If not, wish her well. Everyone deserves happiness. You found yours. She will find hers.

i feel like there's a double standard hidden in there somewhere. so girls are allowed to have a guy best friend while they date, but guys can't have a girl best friend. also, if she's that much of a drama queen, i say good riddance, you're better off without her
