Quota

By lazy pregnant girl - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my boyfriend told me that because he works fifty hours a week, I should be meeting an arbitrary quota of fifty hours of housework, and if I don't, I'm insensitive and ungrateful. FML

I wouldn't normally bash OP's significant other, but considering your name, I'd say he's either pulling your leg, or he's kind of a dick.

I would be happy with a girlfriend who did 5 hours of house work..

Maybe he wants you to do it barefoot as well.

Wanting an unemployed member of the house to contribute is not in itself sexist. If he was telling her that she can't work, and that her only job should be maintaining the house, then your comment would be legit.

Sounds like a great boyfriend you got there

I work on average 60 hours a week, my fiancé works 25 or so. I don't expect him to match the hours, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the housework to get done. Maybe your boyfriend only brought it up because he feels you aren't pulling your weight OP. granted he wasn't very diplomatic about it but some conversation is needed.

Thanks I agree!! My man works and I don't. Therefore I clean the house, the litter boxes, feed and take care of the animals. It's only fair. He shouldnt have to come home to more work when I'm home all day!!

I do agree if he is working that much and you dont work. He should be able to come home to a clean house ith dinner made. Same thing if the roles were reversed.

I don't think the roles could reverse In this situation, unless the wife Is an alien or some other creature that could get him pregnant.

I agree. Keep it clean, pregnant or not. I don't care if you're a guy or girl, if your significant other works more than you do, you should pick up the slack by cooking or cleaning... Anything productive. I mean, we're all for equality, right?

Get rid of him while u still can

F him, OP. You don't need to help out. Besides, you'll probably be insensitive and ungrateful either way.

No that's why you do live with someone! So you find out when it's boyfriend not husband!!

As long as you are healthy and are having a normal pregnancy, you should be able to do your regular housework. But if something is preventing you from doing it or you just don't normally fill fifty hours with chores, don't fret! Once the baby comes you'll fill that fifty-hour quota in just over two days!! The life of a mom is exhausting....but SO worth it!!! Good luck!
