dentists are still doctors, thank him for the heads up. if i'm getting my oil changed, I'd appreciate the mechanic pointing out some potentially bad rust spots.
Not the same thing. Rust spots worsen if they aren't dealt with. Acne is not health threatening, only potentially threatening to ones self esteem. If its not, why bother? It goes away usually. If it does bother you, you're probably smart enough yourself to know to see a dermatologist. It's kind of like the dentist saying "why not fix up that healthy tooth? It looks ugly" I mean really how is it that much different? Most people do not want other people pointing out their "flaws", especially when they are not there for that reason.
I know a dentist specifically deals with teeth, but they also do a bit of face-touching in that line of work as well. If they're touching acne, I think it's well within their right to recommend a dermatologist (who wants to touch random zits as a hazard of their job?). It's not like they're recommending a plastic surgeon or something because they don't like your nose or cheekbones. Personally, I think it's weirder when you go to the doctor for Problem A and they try to treat you for unrelated Problem B. I once went in because I was having asthma problems and came out with a prescription acne treatment. NOT what I went in there for and completely unrelated.
Ok bottom line commenting on someones acne is unprofessional unless your a fuc**** dermatologist I can't beilive people are comparing it to life threatening diseases its acne about 90% of us have had it in our lifeatsome point its not nice to point out and if its bad heeehaaa uhduhhh thatpersonknows
Oh dear-don't mean to sound rude, but I really do think it was meant to be helpful!
That is very unprofessional.

Is your tooth acne bad too?
Your dentist should have been on the receiving end of a swift kick to the balls. "Oh sorry Doc, you must have hit a nerve."
